The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Okay the Good: I took second in a 84 person $40 MTT, I've been crushing SNGs at UB, Dise, and recently Party. Even tried a $50 at PokerStars and took second. These are low level, $30s to $50s. But it's been keeping my bankroll healthy. Hey I even had 30 minutes to kill and played some ring cash games and doubled from $75 to $155. Woot!

The Bad: I'm going deep in a lot of the $100+ MTTs but have hit the wall. I'm sure I've made mistakes, but ...

The Ugly: ... it's been a brutal run of bad beats that is doing the damage. It really hurts you mentally. All the normal ones we all have but some really amazing ones. In several cases I've actually had a healthly stack, took a brutal 2 outer post flop, then got all-in with AK. In three cases (I kid you not), I was called by a lower pair (99, 77, and 66). In two of the cases, I flopped an ace but they flopped a set! In the third case, I flopped a king and he rivered a set. I think UB software loves sets.

Now, these aren't bad beats. In all three cases, I was pretty low -- not brutally low but down to 10 times the big blind or so. In one case, the guy had a huge stack and in the others they had maybe 3 or 4 times my chips. So I'm not telling bad beat stories! I'm telling you how the MTT poker gods are mocking me. ;-)

I finished the Sheets video for his protege tournament final table. More on that tomorrow.
