Chipping Up

I went out of the $200 last night (180th out of 479) when I got it all-in preflop with QQ vs KK. This is a particularily hard hand to play I think. I had some chips but needed to chip up when I got QQ. I raised pot and got significantly reraised by the player on my immediate left. What do you do? Calling isn't really an option. Sure, you could call and if no ace or king hits, then go all-in but it was such a significant pot that both us could hardly afford to fold. Still, you have to consider folding. My gut told me I was up against a big pair, but then you tell yourself maybe it's AK or JJ. But even against AK it's a coin flip for your tournament. Ultimately, I got it all-in because I'm sick of being low as we head toward the money and was willing to gamble. Hard to say what is best.

On Saturday, I was out for the evening but got home a few minutes before 9pm. I knew I'd have to go out around 9:20pm for a few minutes but I thought I'd jump into the $100 and miss a few blinds when I left. Third hand I get 99 and hit trips on the turn. River J. I get it all-in and the guy flips JJ. No more time pressure. ;-)

Good luck this week!
