Things That Happen
A mixed bag of funny, irritating, and just weird things that have happened to me or I've seen at the tables recently:
Yesterday AQ beat AK at least six times in a one hour period ... all except when I was all-in after the flop with my AQ vs AK. The flop was J 10 K rainbow ... I have the nut straight. But a queen hits and we split the pot with straights. But five other times AQ won. Very odd that even those two hands kept coming up against each other.
I had KK and get lots of action preflop and flop. The turn is a beautiful third King. I get so excited I hit the Fold and Show button. DOH! The guy was stunned.
I was just thinking two days ago that I hadn't hit a flush in weeks ... or at least not in a big spot. I proceeded to catch four big flushes and cashed in that tournament. Yesterday, I was thinking how I hadn't hit a SET of anything in a long time, then I hit 3 sets in that tournament (all 888 -- I'm never folding pocket 8s again ... actually one turned into quad 8s) and cashed. So, TODAY I'm thinking I haven't had many straight flushes lately!! Cross your fingers, we'll see what happens.
I'm watching Bax, Sheets, and Ozzy in some $500+ SNG on Stars. Sheets plays his normal fold, fold, fold early on and the next thing you know he's chip leader once they hit the middle of the tournament. Ozzy goes out and now Bax is low. He sucks out and next thing you know it's three to go and they get it all in: Bax has KK, sheets A8, and the third guy AK. An ace flops then an eight hits on the river. GG sheets.
Over the last year, I have misread my hand 2 or 3 times where I thought I made my straight but really I only had a four card straight. Don't know if that's a lot but it happens. The most recent example: I have 45 off. The board is 6 4 3 8. Guy bets big, I go all-in with my pair of fours and he insta calls and flips 88 for trips. River ... wait for it ... 7. DOH. Genuis! He wasn't happy.
Beware of leggggggggggy: the 2005 Extreme Tilt Player of the Year is starting to make his move in 2006. He made two final tables yesterday at UB (in a $200 and a $100). He was in the Bahamas at the WPT event but now he's back. Pretenders beware.
Back to PokerXFactor. Good luck today.
