Stone Cold Nuts Decision ... Dise Masters
Okay I spoke to a statistician, poker players, and the guys who helped me develop the software to run the ExtremeTilt Leader Board and came to a decision on what to do for extremely large tournaments, especially ones that have had months of satellites feeding them (which could potentially skew our leader board). We don't think it's right simply to exclude these tournaments.
We are going to cap the number of places that can earn Extreme Tilt points at 100. This applies to every tournament this year, although only SCN will go over 100 right now, others might (the Sunday $200 sometimes pays 90, so they are getting close). AngryClec suggested something like this and a few others independently thought it was the correct way to go as well.
If SCNs pays 170 spots, as it probably will at a minimum, instead of all 170 players earning Extreme Tilt Leader Board points, only the top 100 will. So when I win, I will get 130 points, which is still a huge amount, but it doesn't blow out the leader board. ;-)
I believe this will still substantially reward the winner but keep in the spirit of the Extreme Tilt Leader Board, which is to accurately show who is playing well in the $100+ tournaments at UB.
I'm looking forward to SCNs on Sunday. I've never played before in early tournaments on Sundays because of family things. I also satellited into the Paradise $1000 tournament! Gonna be fun.
I've been playing well lately, cashing three times and going deep many other times. While that's frustrating to "go deep" but not cash, I feel like I'm on the right track (I did go out like a donkey last night however). I continue to just play a few SNGs here and there but keep winning or cashing at a high rate. I really should do an experiment and play in 40 SNGs in one day and see how I do. Mostly I play in the $30s and $50s with a $100 here or there. I've made several changes in my SNG game since I began working with this one player for PokerXFactor. I will reveal all once we launch! ;-)
Good luck this weekend.

I'm not sure I like the decision. Is your main argument that someone who doesn't play in this tournament is at a distinct disadvantage? I don't think it's fair to someone who finishes in the money but out of the top 100. Then they are at even more of a disadvantage to those that finish top 100. They will have to earn even more points to catch everyone that finished top 100
Well, the main argument was that the winner will get too many points -- possible as much as somone who would normally win an entire month.
The person who outlasts 2774 people deserves 230 points. You should at least give 101-200 some points. It is a great feat to cash in a field like that.
