An Interesting Run

Well "interesting" isn't the right ... brutal is more like it. Hey we all go on these bad beat runs, you just got to suck it up and hope it ends. I have had two minor cashes and I won some SNGs so it hasn't been all bad, but because I haven't been playing that many MTTs, the beats hurt a bit more. What it is, really, is the combination of bad beats plus a bunch of horrible plays by my opponents but they get paid off by the UB gods.

I've been pretty good about not posting too many bad beats here, SO ... here's a few of them and the bad plays -- cuz I know you want 'em.

I have KJ and am low in some tournament (down to 1000) in the BB. Everyone limps. Flop is K rag rag. I check, Player X bets pot -- about 200. I reraise all-in for 950 or so. He thinks a long time. He has to call 750 more -- he only has 230 in the pot. He calls and flips A 7 off. He doesn't have any one card draw (no straight, no flush). No, an ace doesn't hit -- runner, runner for a straight. He was "pot committed."

KK early in a tournament and raise a 30 blind to 200. Player Y calls with, we eventually learn, Q 7 of clubs. Flop three rags but two clubs. Bet 700. Call and he hits the flush on the turn. Fifteen minutes later I have KK again and he chases a club flush again (with other players in the hand) and of course catches.

Another KK early in tournament. Big raise. Guy calls with Q 10. Gets trip 10s eventually and I'm out.

The bad beats are just like we all have (AK vs AQ, trips getting rivered by higher trips) etc. But this one isn't boring! It's a beauty.

FIRST HAND of a $44 MTT. I have AK. A bunch of preflop raising and like 5 people are in the hand when 10, J, Q flops. I have the nut straight. Me and BiggieP (a very good player) get all in. I assume he is chase a flush (two hearts on the board) but that's not like him. He flips QQ for trip queens. The board pairs and I'm out ... all in the first hand.

But hey, I saw a guy with quad aces lose to a straight flush the other day (I kid you not). It was very funny because they kept minimum raising each other on the river until they got all-in. So what am I complaining about. ;-)

Congrats to leggggy who took down the big UB Thursday night rebuy. Very nice sir but it doesn't count toward the ExtremeTilt Leader Board -- so why even play?!

It was nice to see Daniel Negreanu win the WSOP circuit Jack Binion tournament.

Good luck in the big tournaments this weekend -- including those in the WPT Borgata Open in Atlantic City that starts tomorrow.
