Hourly Big Tournaments Blog -- Last Update

Final Update: I'm out 307th out of 2774 (top 200 paid). I actually got my final chips in ahead (I was allin preflop). Post flop I had 99 with A 10 A on the board and the other guy bluffed the big stake out of the pot and he flipped KQ with a ton of outs and he hit his king. I thought I played pretty well in all the tournaments today, believe it or not, but have nothing to show for it. It's funny that the 4pm $100 bothers me most of all. Thanks for all the support -- it was very appreciated.

Even though I went pretty deep in the PokerStars tournament, I learned that's not my cup of tea with the blind structure. UB is my favorite for sure. The only problem with this tournament was that UB turned of the ability to observe other tables (they were worried about server overload). I would have liked to watch other boards. Otherwise, well done. I got pretty close to winning a Last Longer bet on pocketfives (just like the rest of the night -- pretty close but no cigar).

5th Hour Break (8:30pm): Well, about all I can say is I'm still in. Very low now with 4220 chips. There are 354 people left and I'm way down at 341. Need to double up a few times to stay alive. Not gonna play in the 9pm UB $200. That's enough poker. ;-)

SCN Break (7:20pm): I was down to 800 chips but doubled a few times then won some hands and I'm up to 6835 chips, standing in 440th place with 732 to go (top 200 pay).

Went out of the PokerStars tournament when my QQ ran into AK and he caught the king. Finished 675 out of 3999 ... Almost the top 400 paid so I was pretty close. I was even closer in the UB 4pm $100, bubbling 21st ... one off the money. Had several bad beats and that terrible KK vs AA for tons of chips. Lucky really to even get that far.

6pm Update: In the 4pm $100 I was in 3rd when my KK lost to AA again. Hurts to lose 8,000 chips. Have a few left and have doubled since then. I'm still in the pokerstars but it's just nuts. Blinds are huge already. SCNs was going great. I had over 5000 when I get J 6 in the BB. Flop is J 6 x and I bet. Guy raises and I go all-in for his entire tournament. I have him covered and he thinks for a bit and calls with KJ. He rivers the K. Sigh. He's a good player and I was unlucky he made a "what the hell" call. I've doubled twice since then and have 5615 chips. There are 1341 players left and I'm in 486th.

SCN End of First Hour: Funny start -- the tournament was delayed so "players can find their seats." LOL. I have 3370 in chips. We are down to 2341 players and I'm in 676th. In the UB $100 at 4pm I'm in 2nd with 91 to go. And I'm in the Poker Stars $200 which has an insane number of players (3999).

STONE COLD NUTS: Okay back on the horse. UB's Stone Cold Nuts has started with 2771 players and the top 200 cashing. Top ten get WSOP tickets and first pays $265,755. I get a flush early and bet out on the turn because I suspected the guy had trips or two pair and didn't want to slow play my way into losing to a boat. At 3615 chips and only have 2719 more players to get through to win. ;-0

2:52pm: Bad play and I'm out. My KK ran into AA and I misread him. Got pot committed after the flop had a flush draw, then couldn't get out. I was doing well and had chipped up after being down. My read on him was QQ, AJ, or the flush draw, so, while I was wrong on the read, I stayed with my gut which is normally right. Was in 400th place or so when I went out. That was fun (really). Next!

Final Stats: 101 hands; Flops seen 16%; Win % if flop seen: 44%

2:25pm: Hand 75 -- Folds around to my small blind with 77. I raise minimum, he calls. Flop A 7 x. I bet, he calls. Turn is another Ace giving me a boat. Value betting on turn and river and I pick up a thousand chips. Wish I knew how to see dise hand histories. Back over the original 2500 for the first time: 3030 ... blinds are 25/50 ... 1186 remaining (I'm in 470th)

2 pm: End of the first hour. Very easy to play. Had absolutely nothing to play with (except AQ once) or even limp with. Won the two hands (other than blinds) that I did play. Stats: 59 hands. Flops seen 10% (my normal is 18%). Win if see flop 33%. Players Remaining: 1285 (I'm in 694th).

Hand 18: I finally play a hand with KJ off on the button. Flop is A 10 9, I bet and take it down. And so it begins.

1:07 pm: Okay I'm going to "re-edit" this blog as the day progresses (lol let's hope I can do this for a long time!).

Paradise Masters: $1,000,000 Main Event

There are 1457 entries into this tournament. First prize pays $331,000! Top 110 pay. Nine people went out almost immediately! Because this is Paradise, where I mostly play SNGs, I don't know anyone at my table.
