The Day After

The leader board is now up-to-date with all the results in from the weekend. Some notes and comments on the big events:

* The Stone Cold Nuts winner was hhumbert. The final few hours of the tournament was "broadcast" with commentators who mostly didn't comment on the play at all (maybe they did on the final table but I didn't stay up for it). But apparently hhumbert is Annie Duke's boyfriend and had never played online before! I didn't even know she got divorced. There were lots of complaints that Duke was actually giving advice to him ON THE AIR in the broadcast -- but then there were other reports that there was a tape delay. I hope Duke will post on PocketFives to clarify at some point.

* They tried to chop with 7 players left but the pit boss took forever to figure out a chip equity split and the players gave up. UB has never brokered a chop before, so perhaps they were not prepared. They eventually did a GREAT chop with three that greatly favored hhumbert. If it had been me, I would have just played it out with three to go. The winner essentially gave them nothing.

* UB didn't allow people to view boards throughout the tournament, which I think was a mistake (some people figured out how to view boards but I couldn't get their suggestions to work). They did it to protect their server load but I think they could have opened it up at some point.

In other news:

* Sheets took third in the PartyPoker $500,000, plus had a bunch of other cashes for a big weekend. Bax took 4th in a $200,000 at Party as well. Bax is up to 16th on the ExtremeTilt UB $100 Leader Board.

* JJProdigy won the UB $200 last night to move to 4th on our leader board.

* UB has launched a weekly $500 tournament every Sunday at 3pm. I probably will not get to play in it much because of the time but it at least it will generate a lot of tec activing on Sunday mornings.

* papoorboy, who won the UB $200 in two straight weeks then made the final table the next week, WON the PokerStars $500,000 against 4000 players for a huge payout. They are screaming on P5s for some horrible chop he made but, oh my, this guy is an especially great player in the big events. Congrats.

So no points awarded for people finishing 101-200 in the SCN? That is absurd! You outlast over 2500 people and cant get any points. Am I the only one that has a problem with this decision?

Well, I don't think it was the perfect solution. But I have seen other leader boards where it gives full points to tournaments like this and the leaders are people who have one just one tournament. This seems to have worked in terms of the spirit of Extreme Tilt, which is to show who -- overall -- is playing well. But I understand your point.

Hey Mind - I stayed up and watched the entire broadcast. There was only about a 5 second delay, so I guess HHumbert could have been taking any advice she gave, but in my opinion she really wasn't giving him advice. She did make a few comments she probably shouldn't have along the way but she was doing that for all the players, not just when he was in a pot.

Here's a thought that I'm wondering if anyone ever considered. Annie showed up late to the broadcast and claimed she got "lost" on the way. I think she was late because she was probably the one playing originally and then turned it over to him when she had to leave. This would explain his huge chip stack late in the tourney when she got there. Granted he did bring home the victory, but sounds like a tag-team effort to me along the way. (Not that there's anything wrong with that...just a thought.)
