Bax Power Play
JohnnyBax, the number one ranked player on PocketFives.com, the PokerStars Player of the Year in 2005, and fourth ranked last year on ExtremeTilt, has taken over the top spot on our leader board.
Bax took the lead based on a 2nd place finish in a UB $100 then last night he took 15th out of 629 players in the UB $200. He has six cashes so far this year and like a number of pros (legggggggggy, DoubleLucky), he missed a week of online play because of live tournaments.
I had a frustrating evening of play last night in the UB $40 and $200. For a change, it wasn't for lack of cards. I had tons of great playable hands, but they all kept missing and when I tried to steal would be put all-in. For example, in the $200 I get KK. A player to my right had raised 3 times the blind and I reraised huge. It folds around and he calls. Flop has an ace and he checks. I bet the full pot and he comes where over the top. I show KK and he proudly shows A 10? What the heck??? If I have AK there, as clearly I could have, I get all his chips. Then there were plenty of hands where I couldn't even see a flop with hands like AJ because of big re-raises. Like I said, frustrating.
Then there were just many other misses. I would get knocked down to 1000 chips, build back to 2500, then get pushed down again. Finally I lost a big hand when my KQ couldn't beat K9 (with a king flopped), then I went out when I raised big with AK. A player with a few more chips than me decided to take a stand with AQ and we get all-in. Boom, a king flops and I'm golden. But the flop has two clubs, turn club, river club and his Ace of clubs gives him the flush.
Congrats to debo34, who took second in UB's new $500 weekly tournament (it's killing me not to be able to play, but Sunday at 3pm is not good). Also, I see that UB buds AngryTeeTee and pinksock went deep in the $200. Very good job!
Good luck this week!
