Flush Chasers ... PXF Updates ... Play this hand!
Went deep in the $100 UB last night, finishing 14th out of 236 players. I was in okay shape with maybe 17 to go when I got in a complicated hand from the big blind with J10. I ended up with two pair but there was a flush and a straight possible and I lost to the straight. One round later I get KK in the big blind and go all-in over a fairly small raise. He insta-called with AQ and hit one of his three outs. GG me. Earlier I had been on a nutty and very difficult table that included two chip leaders, JJProdigy, Krumster, chrisjagon, and other strong, aggressive players. You had to be ready to go down with your cards at anytime.
But the rest of the day was a bust due to flush chasers. First, in the afternoon $100 I call an early raiser and flop trip 6s. Early raiser clearly has big pair and I reraise his pot bet virtually all-in because there are two diamonds on the board. Then the next guy puts me all-in with a re-raise. Now, this is a $100 tournament, not some $10 turbo satellite. I know he's on the flush draw and, of course, I call and he rivers his flush ... I'm out. This was disappointing because I was doing well AND one of my favorite donkeys was at the table. He had already chipped me up twice. Sigh.
Then in the 8pm I'm pretty deep in, I get QQ in middle position when an aggressive big stack limps from first position. I raise 4 times and he calls after a moment of thought. Flop has two clubs, all low cards, and he puts me all-in. I call, he flips KJ of clubs and rivers the club. Note that at least the big stack here did it right -- he put me all-in, unlike the dork in the afternoon hundred. So the big stack had tons of fold equity on top of two overs and the flush draw.
PXF UPDATE:
To recap, the PokerXFactor Hand Viewer will automatically animate your hand history into a Flash movie. It's free.
We've had over 50 people sign up and test our beta (thanks!) and based on that feedback, we continue to update and improve the viewer. Many of the changes are going in over the next 24 hours. They include a new "Preview" page which lets you check the hand before putting it online (or you can keep it private and just send the URL to your friends). PartyPoker hand histories are in as well as more cash game hand histories from other sites. And we've improved the flow of the process I think. The hand viewer itself is a bit smaller and we'll be adding a speed control next. Keep the feedback coming!
Hey, how would you guys play this hand:
Fold, Call, or Raise?
